The conference will focus on global challenges of education and how China and Finland can work together for finding solutions for burning issues in education in both countries and also globally. Many problems are related to unequal opportunities to provide high quality learning to all people. Globally there are also many gaps how new technology is available for learning and how students and different learners in society have advantage of digital learning environments. The future orientation also requires schools to provide generic transversal competences to learners. How these are implemented in schools are open questions in many countries. China and Finland have many strengths in education. The conference invites all participants to be contributors for solving global challenges in education. We will have parallel research collaborative sessions on 28th of August afternoon. The main themes of these sessions will be: * Finnish education and reforms * Chinese education and reforms * ICT in future schools and teacher education * Teacher education in transformations for the future * Learning analytics for future learning * Future Learning and teaching * Education eco-system * Teacher’s education and training * Children’s well-being * China and Finland learning from each other in education and reforms

The Learning Analytics Community Exchange was an EU funded project in the 7th Framework Programme involving nine partners from across Europe. LACE partners are passionate about the opportunities afforded by current and future views of learning analytics (LA) and educational data mining (EDM) but we were concerned about missed opportunities and failing to realise value. The project aimed to integrate communities working on LA and EDM from schools, workplace and universitiesby sharing effective solutions to real problems.

CRIMSON RESORT & SPA, CEBU, PHILIPPINES JUNE 23 – 25, 2017 The EDM conference is a leading international forum for high-quality research that mines large data sets in order to answer educational research questions that shed light on the learning processes . These data sets may come from the traces that students leave when they interact with learning management systems, interactive learning environments, intelligent tutoring systems, educational games or when they participate in a data-rich learning context. The types of data therefore range from raw log files to eye-tracking devices and other sensor data.

The Journal of Writing Analytics (Analytics) is a peer-reviewed, open access journal published by Colorado State University Open Press. Additional support for the journal is provided by the University of South Florida and the National Science Foundation. Conceptualized as a multidisciplinary field, Writing Analytics is defined as the study of communication processes and genres as they occur in digital educational environments. The journal operates at the intersection of educational measurement, massive data analysis, digital learning ecologies, and philosophical ethics. Intended to give voice to an emerging community, the journal is devoted to programs of research providing evidence of fair, reliable, and valid analytics. Dedicated to application, such multidisciplinary research will demonstrate its usefulness to educational stakeholders as they expand opportunities for diverse learners. Publication of Analytics is annual and coincides with the International Conference on Writing Analytics, hosted in 2017 by the University of South Florida. When the conference is announced in the fall of each year, solicitations will be open for both the conference and the journal. Researchers may submit a manuscript without attending the conference. The Analytics web site is updated quarterly in the winter, spring, summer, and autumn. Updates include book reviews, advances in code, new quantitative techniques, and research notes.

Oppimisanalytiikan ja sähköisen arvioinnin kehittämis- ja palvelukeskus. Yksikkö toimii kolmiossa, jossa kohtaavat (1) paikallinen kenttä eli suomalaiset koulut, (2) kansainvälinen koulutusvienti ja -yhteistyö ja (3) Turun yliopisto yhteistyökumppaneineen monialaisena, tutkimuspohjaisena opetuksen kehittäjänä. Monialainen tutkimus mahdollistaa kansallisen järjestelmän tutkimuspohjaisen kehittämismallin luomisen. Lisäksi tavoitteena on luoda kansallisen verkosto oppimisanalytiikan toimijoille ja luoda oppimisanalytiikan tietopankki tutkijoiden hyödynnettäväksi.

Learning analytics is an emergent field of research that is growing fast. It takes advantage of the last decade of e-learning implementations n education and training as well as of research and development work in areas such as educational data mining, web analytics and statistics. In recent years, increasing numbers of digital tools for the education and training sectors have included learning analytics to some extent, and these tools are now in the early stages of adoption. This report reviews early uptake in the field, presenting five case studies and an inventory of tools, policies and practices. It also provides an Action List for policymakers, practitioners, researchers and industry members to guide work in Europe.

Materiaalia hyödynnettiin kaikkiaan 48 oppilaitoksessa, reilun 1800 oppilaan voimin. Tutkimushankkeen tarkoituksena on oppimateriaalin käytöstä syntyneiden lokitietojen perusteella seurata oppijoiden opiskeluprosessia. Tavoitteena on kehittää henkilökohtaistavia ratkaisuja tulevaisuuden sähköisiin oppimisympäristöihin sekä vahvistaa näyttöön perustuvaa (evidence-based) opetuksen ja koulutuksen kehittämistä.
